We made it!

The campaign is complete. We reached the goal, plus a bit more.

And what a ride. I usually don't express my feelings on the internet, but today is an exception. I can't put into words how grateful I am.

Many of you may not know this, but around 7 years ago, I had a bit of professional crisis. After working for startups for a few years, creating digital products had become a burden. The joy was gone. I no longer enjoyed making websites, and I didn't know what to do next.

That's when started creating animated gifs with Three.js, since my laptop couldn't handle Cinema 4D. Suddenly, I felt motivated again. I was back in my creative flow. The Creative Coding and the Three.js communities welcomed me with open arms (I still remember the first like I received from MrDoob). This new direction felt right, so I decided that my future would involve creating 3D graphics for the web.

But how could I spend most of my time creating 3D websites? I remember exchanging emails with Stevijn van Olst, co-founder of Cartelle (one of my all-time favorite studios). He suggested that I could work for clients or be weird and create my own thing to make money.

At that time, I was just starting out and I didn't consider I had anything particularly interesting to share with the world. Making a living by selling my own creations didn't seem feasible.

So for the next 7 years, I focused on client work and some side projects. I am truly proud of all the projects I collaborated on, but there are limits to what you can achieve when working for others. It can be slow and often involves compromises. On the other hand, I only got limited time for side projects and so many ideas I wanted to explore.

Last Friday was a special day because it shows me (and hopefully you) that we can fund our web experiments through the support of people who love our work and believe in our cause.

For that reason:
Thank you! I am forever grateful.

In the coming months, I will be completing the library, the documentation page, and the video tutorial. Those who backed the project will receive updates via email. Stay tuned.
